Kansas City's skyline is nice, but I love St. Louis'. Kansas City's might be taller, but St. Louis skyline is also gorgeous to me. Although St. Louis kinda has a second skyline in Clayton, and more density in the Central West End.

St. Louis skyline is really meant to be viewed from East to West, not North to South.

Here's a view from west of the Arch.

You can see the Civil Courts Building, the tower of Union Station, and the courthouse in the distance in front of the arch.

Kansas City skyline is nice also, but I prefer St. Louis skyline.

It's St Louis all the way for better skyline. Advantage: The Gateway Arch.

First off - some very excellent photos, nice images

As have said before, biased as StL is home city, but while I do think KC has a nice/good skyline, its lacking any 'signature' feature/building. Granted, w/o the Arch, would StL be as distinctive either? Nevertheless, both are good, but overall its StL for me.

kcmo....your photos are great. Night and daytime. KC is interesting, yes. I like your photos of St. Louis, which is my hometown. Will have to vote for STL. Arch of course adds much to the views. Try one of the pictures of the Old Court House behind the Arch. Fascinating view.

Does it help if I say that I really like KC barbeque????

While the Arch is great, I'm more of a skyscraper kind of guy, so I voted for Kansas City. Although I would much rather live in St. Louis

What counts in this battle is the downtown areas of both cities. KC's downtown is WAY bigger and has more tall buildings than STL does. It also has a "bowl" design with two clusters of skyscrapers. STL has about 4-5 tall or semi-tall buildings and an arch. Without the arch, their skyline would be pathetic. KC has the bartle pylons and the liberty memorial to define our skyline. One KC place, and Transamerica building are two really tall buildings in our downtown.

KC for it's tall buildings has: First cluster: City Hall, Oak Building, One KC Place, Transamerica Tower, The Black building on walnut, 909 walnut, Commerce Tower, City Center Square, Power and Light Building, Bryant building. Second cluster: Crown Center, San Fransisco Tower, Shook Hardy and Bacon Building, The Hyatt.

STL for it's tall buildings: Eagelton Courthouse, Laclede Gas, US Bank building, AT&T building, and Metropolitan Square.

Notice, I left out all the landmarks, and am only counting noticible tall buildings (excluding AMC building, Marriott, Crowne Plaza, ect for KC and Crowne Plaza, Adams Mark, Round Hotel [forgot the name], for STL).

Based on the evidence, come to your own, obvious conclusion-- Why is this forum even being proposed again?????

The Arch just doesn't do much for me. It's nice, with the green river-front around it, something Kansas City needs more of. I live in KC and have driven through/around/all-over St. Louis on countless occasions, and Kansas City's skyline is much more dramatic from most angles. To me, anyway. The Arch is pretty cool in and of itself, but doesn't add enough whatever to St. Louis' skyline to put it ahead of KC.

Someone mentioned Kansas City doesn't have any distinctive buildings, when it fact, it has several. There's a few Art Deco buildings, like the ones at 909 Walnut and the Power & Light building, along with one of the first 'glass curtain' high rises in the world. KC's first 'skyscraper', the New York Life building, is one of my favorites. It date's from 1888.

I suppose I like Kansas Citys skyline more out of the two. I agree with northbound74 on the Arch. It's nice, but I just really never found it that interesting.
