Hello Everyone, Well I'm flying in from Seattle in April, going to be in the Joplin and surrounding area for 6 days. I don't know what kind of clothes to bring. Will it be hot, or just normal. Light coat or a heavy one, Jeans or and shorts? I don't have a clue and I don't want to pack too much. Let me know please. Thanking you...Wionee

You'll have a great time. Bring a light jacket or sweater for early mornings just in case, but the weather should be nice. Also, bring an umbrella. It shouldn't be bad at all, almost perfect.
Most of the leaves start sprouting on trees in April and it can be wet and either cool or warm depending on the air masses and if they're coming from the north or the humid Gulf south.
I'd bring jeans, whatever you wear for dress casual and you may or may not find opportunity to wear shorts.
Have fun!

Default weather

I agree-bring it all. We have had 80 degree weather in February, and snow on Easter in the past. Your best bet is to check weather.com just before you leave home, and bring a small umbrella regardless of the forecast. This year seems to be warming early-forsythia and magnolias are blooming, and the daffodils are up. Thank goodness-we've had a horrible year for snow and ice!

If you're coming to Missouri in April and your question is will it be hot or cold, rainy or sunny, should you bring a parka or a pair of shorts...

The answer is YES.

I agree with this. The weather in SW MO is crazy. I think the normal though is in the upper 60s to low 70s, but it was about 75 today.

Do you plan on flying into the Joplin Regional Airport?

You don't have a clue about what to plan for in April and neither do any of us who have lived here 30 years. Plan for rain - it is likely in April. It will almost certainly not be snow and ice cold, but it could get cold enough for frost (we never plant annuals until May). The extremes in temperature for Missouri in April range from teens to 90's.

Bring layers. Leave the bulky heavy coat at home. If you have a waterproof jacket or rain coat, you might want it if outdoor activities are planned.

With that said, I consider April one of the best times of the year here. You will likely have excellent weather for any activities. I hope you do.

I just got back from visiting Missouri about two weeks ago from Vegas and it was kind of chilly at night and windy and a little bit cold during the day. It was also cloudy with a bit of rain. I would check the weather report and bring something for all occassions.

I'm sure it's been said before, but here goes- if you don't like the weather in Missouri, wait 20 minutes, it will change!

Default I'm So Excited!!!!!!!

Thank you all so much for your terrific response. I can hardly wait to arrive in Joplin. I'm flying into Fayetteville, renting a car and driving up to Joplin. I spoke to a Realtor that lives in Joplin and she recommended I fly into Fayetteville instead of Joplin. I've had so much fun speaking with all of you, and all the information that's been posted has really given me a good feeling.
I'm originally from Fairbanks, Alaska,,talk about cold, I know cold and dark. Spent a good portion of my life there. Moved to the Washington area about 8 years ago,,talk about rain, no place like here for rainy days.
I've been searching the map for a place to move to. Washington State has just gotten to expensive, and my house just to big. I'm really excited about buying a cute fixer-upper,something I've always wanted to do. I've seen lots of adorable places and the realtor's from Joplin have been so wonderful and helpful.I must tell you though... that this forum was by far the one with the nicest people, and the most positive insights into Missouri, I THANK YOU ALL.
I wish you all a terrific day...Wionee
