Talking Moving To The Licking Area!

LOLOLOLOL!!! Now what a title is that, Huh!!!!

Truthfully, my wife and I just bought some land 10 miles outside of Licking toward Salem. We currently live in Portland Oregon and are really looking forward to moving there in May!

Yes, we are having fun with the town name and so are our friends. Having fun with a town name is not the same as making fun OF a town name. Heck, we live near Boring, Oregon!

Well, we'll see you all in May and any information you can give us on the area would always be appreciated!

Have fun!

My old high school used to play against Licking in sports--boy did we have fun with some of the cheers!

Now I live in Pennsylvania, home of some other interesting town names, most notably--Intercourse...I kid you not.

It's ok - at least until some of the prisoners escape, like they did last week.

When we were looking for a property in MO there were a couple of places I said "no way" to:

Pittsville
Lupus
Climax Springs (I know I know stop being a teenager )

Luckily we found something in Warrensburg!

Remember when Licking was putting on the bull rides and they made up t-shirts saying "Bull Lick"? Those were great!

I went to school in Humansville (a looong time ago) and have good memories of the town and of the people, esp. the Shellinghammers.

And, mention must be made of Max, Roby, Blooming Rose, Evening Shade (always liked that one!), Plato, Flatwood and Slabtown. Shows how individuals weren't constrained by convention when it came to names.

How about Devil's Elbow? Does anyone know how that name originated?
