Lost my health insurance in Feb 2009. No fault of mine. Went until Dec of 09 and then my company offered to pay my costs! The company i chose decided to add a couple of riders after the purchase. This pretty much rendered my policy useless unless i had an accident.

The rule is that: When you haven't had health insurance for 63 days then they can apply "pre-existing conditions". The low life ins company went all the way back to 1993 to add a rider to prevent coverage as to what they considered a "pre-existing condition".

What did i do? I just waited until i had coverage with the 2nd company for 63 days then i found me another company and i now have full coverage with NO RIDERS AT ALL! And my premium went down $15.00 per month and the deductible went down $500.00.

Get smart. Don't let them beat you down!

Perfect lesson. Your greatest advocate when it comes to healthcare is yourself, and that includes coverage issues. Your second greatest advocate should be your primary physician. If he or she is not, replace them!
