I have never been to Mobile. Our office is 3000 block of Government Blvd. Looking for a safe, clean area to rent apt or home to start with. 2 bedroom, 700 month or so if possible.

I was told to look west of 65 and north of 10. Is Greenwich Hills to Airport a nice area to live in?

I appreciate any help you can give me.

Thanks

Try Regency Gates (Grelot and University) or Lenox Gates (Grelot and Hillcrest) Apartments. There are also some newer/nicer apartments on Grelot between Cody Rd. and Hillcrest. That's a pretty decent area. I lived in Regency Gates for 4 years and enjoyed it there.

If your office is at the 3000 block of Govt., you should be near I-65 where all the car dealerships are. What you were told is correct. Don't move east of I-65 or south of 10. Crime is worse east of 65, neighborhoods are spotty, etc. East of I-65 is also mid-town and downtown, so unless you just have a thing for an older historic house, forget it. From your post though, you say you want an apt., so scratch out mid-town altogether. South of 10 is more redneck/backwoods, not as nice IMO. You could also live in Daphne over on the eastern shore of the bay, which is 100x nicer. I lived in Mobile 28 years and never had a desire to live on the eastern shore. Once I moved here, I will never go back to Mobile. It's a lot nicer over here.

Where are you moving from? I've traveled all over the US for work trips, so I might be able to make a comparison or relate to where you're coming from.

I am moving from Indianapolis. I currently live in Greenwood, just south of Indianapolis.

The apartments JRA mentioned are nice. I also recommend Timber Ridge apartments on Wall St (off of Hillcrest), I lived there for a year and I loved it.
