Does anyone have any knowledge as to a difference in cost of wind insurance between these two towns?
Considering Fairhope is right on the bay while Orange Beach is on the gulf coast my guess would be no at first, but then I think about how Fairhope sits up on a bluff, does that make a difference?
Did Fairhope have much damage from Hurricane Ivan?

To answer your question about damage from Ivan, Fairhope had very little damage, except the area below the Marriott Hotel on scenic 98. The low areas over there were under water, but very little wind damage in the rest of the town.

Orange Beach had a lot of damage from Ivan and Katrina. Many of the condos had whole walls collapse and homes blown away. BTW, I lived in OB during Katrina, and left our home that morning...only to find no damage, but it got scary.

Fairhope is much safer unless you choose one of the low areas right on the bay. I hope this helps. Good luck!
