Food Champs (Mobile: prices, grocer, vs)

The nearly one year old LLC grocer based in Mobile has met my expectation in the dozen times I have shopped at their Dauphin St location. The store is never cluttered or trashed and granted its an older grocery store, the prices are among the cheapest in the city. Examples: Yes, even after the cost plus 10% is factored in, today for example I bought the following: Medium Eggs dozen: $1.31 (large were $1.53) and the egg expiration dates were 3 to 4 weeks out (find that at Walmart!) $2.29 Winn Dixie), Ground turkey breast 99% lean 19.2 oz was $5.38 lb vs $7.49 at Publix, store brand loaf of bread .94 cents vs $1.69 Publix, Milk gallon store brand (staggers lower based on fat content) $4.11 whole, $3.85 2%, $3.65 1%, and $3.52 skim) vs $4.29 Winn Dixie for all types, 32 oz cereal bags (Always Save brand) $3.19 vs Malt o Meal 30 oz at Winn Dixie $5.09. Ground Beef (75% lean) $3.51 lb. French bread regular or whole wheat from bakery 97 cents vs $2.99 Publix. Also noticed toiletry items much lower cost than at other stores. Single toothbrush 53 cents (and not made in China!), generic Aveeno 12 oz bottle $1.52 vs $3.57 Walmart, Store brand (Always Save) paper towels 67.2 sq ft roll...86 cents 1.35 similar item Publix. Overall, sure it doesn't have the selection of a Winn Dixie or Publix, but for basic staple items, I can say they keep stuff stocked and at good prices.

I think that's the same store on DIP across from BC Rain high. They always stocking making sure they don't run out of nothing

Yeah they have the DIP store as their second one as well.

Hmm, never heard of them. Ya think by using the word "champs" they're trying to evoke memories of the old Delchamps?
