Continuing on with this, yesterday was my second encounter of a drunk drive on 45, in a line of about 50 cars (not joking) in the front was a drunk driver that was swerving in and out of oncoming traffic including a MC Sheriff, for whatever reason the sheriff pulled over but did not bother persuing, this lasted from Citronelle to the 158 interchange was hoping that the original Sheriff had gotten more cops on the road in the area but did not see another cop. Once again a divided highway wouldn’t have resulted in a 50 car line and less danger of
a drunk driver going into oncoming traffic

Orange Beach Mayor wishes for the new 70 million dollar bridge not to built and allocate it to another project, instead insisting that the toll bridge is sufficient enough (not gonna lie, a little sus). The state has halted the project to allow time for the owner's of the toll bridge and ALDOT to talk about a compromise (talks are currently to instead expand the toll bridge and give local a massive discount to use it)

Rep. Stringer of Citronelle wishes to use the funds to expand about 10 miles of highway 45. I completely agree, if Orange Beach doesn't need/wants that money then we should place it on a project that desperately needs it, AKA highway 45. Definitely a long shot, but a man can dream lol

Well I'm biting the bullet and reading the actual Bill, 2702 pages... (don't worry I'm not reading it all, thank God for a table of contents lol)
It appears that it is a grant application kind of thing that the most the Feds can allocate money is 50% so the most the bay bridge project would get is like $1.1 billion. Which would be awesome but not quite cross the finish line

edit:
...Its so boring....

Well what do y’all think of I-14? Seems like since its going through the blackbelt, combined with the widening of highway 43 to Tuscaloosa, Mobile would tend to benefit from the enhanced economy from the region north of us

I personally think it shouldn’t go near the 20/59 corridor, needs to stay further South and go through Jackson/Thomasville then head toward Montgomery. Current plans for I-14 through Alabama runs directly parallel to highway 80 which is already 4 laned all the way to Montgomery. Thomasville area doesn’t have a 4 lane road that goes through the region. With construction of finishing 43 all the way to 20/59 given a complete north south access it would only make sense to give it an east-west 4 lane highway access as well

I feel you. I’d go a bit further and say it shouldn’t touch Montgomery and should go into Troy. One of my friends went to school there and the city and area is nice and growing. I think it would make more sense to do that to try and grow the south eastern area of the state since Dothan is also growing and would be generally close. Most industry that would come to the area would be exported through Mobile. So, it would make sense to have it lower. I don’t see a reason why it would go to Montgomery other than people in the state government wanting it to

Look at that, looks like about 4 or 5 miles of back up going to the tunnel... DURING a hurricane evacuation of several states. But yet its such a great idea to make 2 more interstates farther up north instead of fixing that issue that shouldn't exist

Out of context for this thread perhaps, but saw a camera view from Slidel (so it must've been I-10 trying to get on 59, or 59 itself) on a 6-lane portion where traffic was either stopped or barely creeping along. Can't say how far it was backed up, but it must have been for quite a distance. No contraflow because they didn't have time to set it up.

Also, watching Cantore now. Behind him is the simulated paddlewheel steamboat "City of New Orleans". Would be nice if they could get it out of harm's way.
