Then there's Madrid, Alabama which is pronounced differently than the capital of Spain. Mad-rid instead of Ma-drid.

Mo-beel is the correct pronunciation. Period.

NOT Mo-bill
NOT MO-beel

^ Those 2 grate my nerves badly!

What's the difference between Mo-beel and MO-beel ? And I agree that's more comen or Moh-beel/beal.

How heavy the pronunciation is on the first syllable. mo-BEEL is correct vs MO-beel. Don't pronounce the MO so heavy it sounds like someone hit you in the gut. I've heard it that way on some commercials. It's annoying. The news anchors pronounce it correctly.

I see what you’re saying, but my grandmother grew up in Theodore and pronounced it Mo-beel and my other grandmother grew up in midtown and also says mo-beel. Not sure if there’s a connection to whether people pronounce it differently whether it’s a country or city accent. It definitely seems to vary from person to person
