You clearly don’t get it. As a well-rounded person who has traveled nationwide for years to various cities, Mobile falls short. You can spout off all these figures stating facts. If it was that desirable of a city, people would be coming vs going. I rest my case. You want to argue just for the sake of it. I could bring up the recent census data to show you the facts, but why bother? I’m not here to win an argument over the internet. I honestly don’t care what you think. You love Mobile? Great! Stay there! No one asked you to leave.

So what cities are you visiting outside of tourist areas? I travel often with my job so I'm in Mobile probably 8 full days a month and I can surely attest that Mobile fairs much better than cities even twice its size far as infrastructure, scenery, and even abandonment. I can agree you're claims are baseless, your case is dismissed not at rest.

Guys, this is like arguing over which color is better. It is just opinion based on individual observations that are swayed by bias life view points and experiences. No one is going to change any opinions here. Baldwin County in my opinion is a crappy mess of a suburban community that is losing is quality of life due to increasing crime, terrible traffic, and declining school system. It holds nothing to the suburbs around Tampa, Nashville, and other communities that I have experience living in. Mobile has its flaws just like every urban area. Mobile is made up of many neighborhoods.... some are truly awesome and some are piles of crap. I honestly love Mobile because it has something special about it.

It is better to just let the people that hate Mobile rant and you just state your opinion. No need to get into personal arguments.

The list is a mile long; too long to type, but basically 37 states. I get it, this forum is all pro-Mobilians who will always come up with some opinion to defend the place that's absolutely non-progressive and lags behind the majority of America, school system ratings, test scores, economy, etc. Typical backwards Alabama. Again, no point in arguing. No one is going to win. My case is done; you all just want to argue for fun. I'm finished. The dead horse has been beat enough. For the 3rd time, if you love the city, good for you.

All, let us all remember this person actually referenced cruise "fiascos" as a crux in their original argument. Are we reading newspapers from 2011?

I think the biggest problem is that very few comments directed at Mobile’s problems that provide any insight that’s relevant. Here’s a good example on how that would go:

Person 1- Mobile has a lack of major talent consistently coming to the city. It mostly gets absorbed by surrounding areas like orange beach or Biloxi

Person 2- yeah! Good thing the city is investing more than 100 million into the civic center upgrades and combining that with hundreds of millions more in private development of the surrounding property

This is how it usually goes though:

Person 1- Mobile sucks because it isn’t the exact same as it was when I was growing up there. I would know that it sucks because I’ve been to places other than Mobile. Here are my credentials. Also, there are all those seedy poor people over there *wink wink*. They infest gas stations that you don’t expect!

moneygeek updated their 'dangerous cities' list after the clerical error and Mobile's not on it anymore. Damage has been done though
