The lowest I recall it reaching was one January night where the low was 24 deg. F.
I've wondered about this. In Atlanta it snows almost every year for 2 days in late December. The whole metropolitan area shuts down for a day or two (except essential companies & personnel of course). Which for the kids (and some employees) = at least 2 free days at home. Does Mobile shut down like this at all?

Well, kids here get Hurricane days instead of snow days.

You can usually count on a hurricane shutting down Mobile each year for one-two days in a good year or three-four days in a bad year. It never really snows, and in the 8 or 9 year cycle that it actually does, it is not nearly enough to cause any kind of stand-still operation wise.

Does anyone remember it snowed here in 1996? December 1996.
It was march 1993 when it had snowed before that

Heck, it snowed in Miami yesterday.... It snowed in a few places in Central Florida also. These are very rare occurrences...and cannot be predicted. It's like hurricanes...they predict a number of them coming, and have not had any come this way in a few years. This nasty cold weather we are having is unusual, and has damaged plants and who knows how many broken pipes once it thaws. Snow would have been better....LOL!!!

I went to a Marvin's store yesterday to get some PVC pipe for one of my rentals and they were sold out. It seems everybody has busted pipes whether they were insulated or not.

I vaguely remember the snow event in 1988. I was 3 years old and it was my first snow. Good times.

In February, 1973, we had 5" of snow here in Mobile. I still have a picture of it with the date written on the windshield of my old truck

Our pipes are still ok, but a friend of mine in Fairhope had hers burst and is now without water. Many plants have died, too.
