I found out that I have received a letter from Thyssenkrupp to start the AIDT process. My home is in Alabama and I would very much like to work there , but my present job is 700 miles away and I only come home every 6 weeks for a week. I like this job somewhat, but being home and working for Thyssenkrupp would be much better. With the economy the way it is though, if I leave this job and don't get the job in Mobile either, it could be bad. Help?

Inform Thyssenkrupp of your current working situation, and let them know that you are definitely interested in the position. If they want you (or really want to interview you), they will be willing to work with you and interview you when you can make it in - or perhaps set up where you can drive/fly in on a weekend to do so. After which, they will then inform you at a later time if you are hired or not - and do not quit your current job until you find out whether you are hired or not. If you get hired, then great - you can move back. If not, well, keep your head up and come up with another plan.

Of course, this is just my opinion from my own long-distance interviewing experiences. I know nothing of Thyssenkrupp specifically, so do not take my word as golden.

Long distance interviewing...lolz. I've just about given up on looking for a job from 7,000 miles away. I'll resume my search when I return home in a month.
