Hey All-

My wife and I will be moving down to Mobile in May and we are heading down there this weekend to look around. We would like to speak to a real estate agent one day when we are down there to discuss neighborhoods, areas to be, etc. We are pretty versatile in our area search and do not want to be restrictive but we are looking probably in the Daphne, Orange Beach and maybe inner Mobile area. We are not too familiar with the area so some guidance would be helpful to help direct our eventual house search.

Feel free to direct message me...

J

Any place you need to be close to, or any particular house type (size, age, etc.)? For instance, Orange Beach would be too long of a commute to Mobile.

Not really...we can really choose as my wife has positions to choose from in Mobile and Orange Beach and I can telecommute. No kids either to factor in!

I think it's going to come down to what kind of lifestyle you prefer. If you want the ammenities that come with being near city, then that would be one set of options regarding Mobile. If you don't need that, your wifes job is in Orange Beach, then that's a whole different set of options. Do you want a house, condo and what size and price range ? This will give us an idea of what we can suggest, and the good and not so good about either area.

Well, we love being close to the water for sailing, kayaking, etc and good restaurants. We are looking to spend $200-250 and looking for a house. I think Orange Beach is out due to the high insurance rates.

Ok, now I can help. We just Last July bought a brand new 4bdrm, 2 bath home in a pretty nice subdivision in Loxley called Lakeland. The subdivision has acess to a 60 acre lake which we use for our canoe and do a little bass fishing. There's a community pool, the location puts you about 30 minutes west to Mobile, 30 minutes east to Pensacola and about 30 minutes south to Orange Beach it's very centrally located which is great. Our house cost us about 185 K and it's pretty nice I think. The home owners insurance rates for Loxley area are much more reasonable than if you get closer to the Bay or Gulf, so that's another thing we like. We moved from Atlanta, so we used to drive down, stay a couple days and just ride all over,so we learned the area and found this place to be a perfect location, nice area and the price was right. If you need any help don't hesitate to ask.
