The hunting measure was really not written IMO so the average person could understand what was really being asked. I failed over the course of the past few months in my travels to find ONE person who thought it was a good idea. These animals are not in some kind of a pen or enclose game area.
These hunters brought income into restaurants, gas stations, bars, and hotels. As well as became ambassadors for the state. In essence we told them to take a hike.
Not good for a state with limited jobs.
This one was a screw up.

Now here is hoping all the new state legislators will get onto the oil over here.

They failed to notice that I was agreeing with Silvertip ... but having spent the last decade involved in the fight against the ARs, I now recognise their hand at work. They're experts at making it sound like it's the evil out-of-state hunters hurting your chance of bagging a buck (while making everyone think that's a homegrown idea), when in fact it's actually about putting a halt to ALL hunting, one law at a time. Today, outfitters' clients. Tomorrow, YOU.

Probably a lot, now that people can say what they really think, rather than what they think will influence the election. Gives a whole 'nuther picture sometimes.

Anything else particular significant on this Montana ballot??

How about how any newly-elected officials might influence the state's future? Did all the incumbents get re-elected (as happened in CA!!) or did someone noteworthy get the boot?

An interesting post-election article (or rant):
A Vote Against Government - Reason Magazine

People forget.. the founding fathers designed our government to promote gridlock, under the well-demonstrated theory that any time gov't rushes into something, it WILL be the wrong response.

Well Reziac, The quick and easy answer is found at
State GOP rides national wave | greatfallstribune.com | Great Falls Tribune

There were 4 ballot initives, I-161 we already discussed, another that caped the rates that could be charged by pay-day lenders, that passed.
A call for the constitutional convention, that went down, and an inititive that made an amendment to the constitution forbiding sales taxes on real estate sales, that one passed.

Congressman Rheburg won re-election to his 6th term, and that was the big race.

The republicans took control of both the house and senate, so king brian is pretty limited in what he will get done in his last 2 years as governor.
The republicans also took control of the public service commission so look for more energy development in our future.

Lots of cussing, hair pulling and chest beating, just regular stuff.

If you want to discuss the election results of MONTANA, that's fine. If you want to discuss national and internation politics, take it to the Political arena in General Topics.

I've already deleted several posts and would really like to see a discussion on the ELECTION RESULTS of MONTANA. For now, I'll leave the thread open. If it continues to stray, I'll shut it down and then go back and infract. So play nice.

I wonder... is that last one solely to forbid the state of Montana from applying a sales or transaction tax to real estate, or is it to nix this little-known gem from the "Health Care Reform" bill, which imposes a 3.8% tax on certain real estate sales?

snopes.com: 3.8% Tax on Real Estate Transactions
(that being the easiest quick-and-dirty explanation I know where to find on short notice)

<goes off, finds article on the initiative from before the election>
CI-105 would ban tax on real estate sales
doesn't say, but it occurs to me that it could be interpreted to protect Montanans from this new federal tax.

I do agree with the article, that since these camels stick their noses into the tent over and over no matter how many times you whack them, it's best to seal the tent once and for all and put a permanent halt to attempts to pass some types of legislation.

For those whose local districts now have a change of representation or leadership:

How do you think this will affect your part of Montana, and the state as a whole?
