I just moved from Gallatin County to Lewis and Clark, and I think the Helena area is way more down to earth than Bozeman... Although my (self adopted little sister, my best friend's and my kids godparents daughter) sis is one of the best mannered and well educated youngsters came out of Manhattan Christian...

There are good people everywhere, it's about parenting, friendship and honesty...

What burned you about Helena? Just Curious as I've got youngsters about to enter the school system here...

Well....besides the high rents, its mostly about my exhusband's behavior Helena is like a small town with regard to gossip.

I can't comment much on the public schools here. There was a big to do about the sex education reform that was enacted, you may want to check that out before you enroll. Many reasonable private school options here if you don't like it, also county schools.

Missoula has the Good Food Store (great place) and would be very friendly to vegans. Valley Christian is a good school, I hear, but I'm not sure of the cost. Biggest problem is cost of living. No less expensive than Helena.

I live near Billings, MT now.

There are 3 or 4 health food stores. Mary's Health Food Store is one of the other popular ones and the one I end up going to the most considering it's conveniently located near a couple other major stores - ex. Costco.

Also the farmer's market here is excellent!

I'm all for homeschooling if that is an option. I am very particular about what my kids learn about anything - including God. I'd far prefer them to learn it from me, personally. I have no idea about the schools in the area.

Bozeman I know should have some health food stores too and they also have a cloth diaper and little kids toys store if that is useful in any way to you.
Also clueless about the schools there.

Billings' weather is a bit nicer than Helena and Bozeman, I think. It's warmer and you're within close distance of multiple national parks and a nice zoo.
