The university. hmm makes me wonder if the commute is really feasible or not.

Hamilton is about 48 miles to edge of Missoula. Victor, 35. Stevensville, 28.

We have driven through Hamilton many times on our way to North Idaho. Nice town, great Western Outfitter store (hope it's still there). But we decided to stay overnight on one road trip because we were too tired to make it all the way to Idaho. Sunday night after 9 pm. We had finished all our road trip snacks, and we were starving. We figured that there would be some place open in town where we could get something to eat. Nope! No restaurants, no markets, just a vending machine at the hotel with more snacks. That's no different from most other small towns in the West, including our own town of Clark Fork, so we weren't terribly surprised. It's just that if one is coming from a larger city, expecting there to be something open late for hungry tourists, then one is out of luck. The moral of the story: Bring extra power bars and bananas...

Yeah I read the town mostly closes up on Sundays. Which I’m per much fine with. Would suck if you were starving though and passing through.

Yeah, Hamilton is not exactly the place where you go for nightlife. If you are looking for nightlife, the Bitterroot (Hamilton, Stevi, etc.) is not for you. If picking up something from the supermarket, firing up the grill and enjoying a cold beer and the view is your thing, then it is the place.
