Well, that report doesn't give expenditures. It simply says Amount Budgeted = $2000 and Budget expenditure = $2000. It never has any left over or has any still needed or appropriated.

So the school trusties get a detailed report? Kind of a stupid question, I hope they would. But I wonder if there is ever, anything left over? Or, do they get up close to the end of the year and pad supplies for next year out of this years budget, just to use it up.

Depends on the school district, superintendant and the trustees. I know when Berkeley County was experiencing rapid growth they were expanding and building new schools at a pace of at least one new facility per year and several redo's, so there was really no extra $$ at all. As a matter of fact there were multiple special levies almost each year and all passed.

But there was also a partnership with businesses and schools as well. The business community was pretty well behind the school district, business members served as trustees and volunteered. It was a pretty dynamic and heavily supported issue. The mindset is without a supported educational system it's difficult to attract people and jobs. It's as vital to business interests as it is a matter of public policy, and that's exactly the camp I subscribe to (if anyone hasn't already figured that out, lol)

The budget is just that- it's a budget. A forward roadmap of things the school is mandated to spend on and things they plan to spend on. The school district is normally responsible for preparing the budget.

The trustees report shows the actual revenues and expenses.
