In response to Lorelei, ... WHAT?! I don't know what part of Helena you frequent, but I have been in this area since I was eight years old (my kids are grown and gone, if that gives you any idea how long THAT has been) and never in my wildest dreams would I call Helena (or Montana, as you also stated) populated by "Democrats" and "non-conservative" Republicans. Clearly those are simply the people that YOU hang out with; there are all types here, and the majority of the people that my family (going back to Frenchtown beginnings) and myself know are definately Republican and definately Conservative. Please don't generalize about my state based just on your own beliefs. My Grandparents always practiced a Live and Let Live attitude, and I think that most Montanans are the same - help out your neighbor if he needs it, but otherwise stay out of his business unless he asks your opinion and don't judge him. We've had and still have friends and family all across this wonderful state, and I don't recall my Grandparents or my Parents liking or disliking someone based on their politics. We are a happy people, glad to be alive and to be living in the state we have had a love affair with for generations.

Hi, I am a newby on this board but have lived in western Montana for about 10 years now. A reply on this post said that Mt. has lots of "conservative libertarians" that was right on. Oregon is lost forever. Please move here, you are welcome. It does take a while to get past being viewed as an outsider after moving from another state though. I live in the very liberal town of Hot Springs and I am selling my house to move east of the divide soon. Good luck and keep on the good work of fighting the cool aid brigade !

We are not stuck. My business kinda needs the mild rainy weather. So we are going to move to the country, but still stay in the area. Business is good and housing has taken big hits in certain areas. Ours has also, but not as bad as some.
