Guess what?..... More outsiders moving to your state lol. No we did not sell our mansion so we can live the country life in the mountains. We just want to live in a safe town to raise our children. I am a stay at home mom and my husband is blue collar. We are looking to purchase a home between 50k and 75k, is there a particular neighbourhood we should avoid i.e gangs or unusually high crime? We take pride in our community where ever we live, i volunteer at the elementary school, help elderly neighbors and try to keep our street clean. However, we have lived in this small town in PA for 2 1/2 years and the locals keep their distance and appear to be resentful because we relocated from another state. Will we have trouble fitting in and making friends?

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Well if you are planning to move to Butte, Montana, no worries.... about the only gangs you will find there are snuggled up close to the bar at the local PUB on a Saturday night singing a rather hardy & robust version of I Love This Bar (broken link).

You could most likely get a fairly decent doublewide mod home for right around 75k, but that would be about it, unless of course you get a *row house, with no garage or cement foundation..... even then, 75k might be a bit of a stretch. I would suggest using the 75k as a down payment on something nice..... at least, that's what I'd do.

I don't think you are going to have any trouble making friends and settling in.... Just be yourself and you'll be fine.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. We saw some fixer uppers in town, they look like with a little TLC they'll be fine. Thanks again!

By the way my husband has never been on a horse, are there places to go riding?
