O.k. so i'm just being nosey but if you can afford to put your girl in private school why not consider the alternative? ... not sending her to private school but rather, living in one of the nicer and safer coastal communities in Monterey County with better public schools.
I would be very surprised if the public high school in Salinas is a good one but i shouldn't assume. But just the gang / drug issues alone would make me wary if i had a pre-teen / teenager.

While I lived there most who could afford it sent their high school age kids to Palma.

Palma School: Home

As far as public Salinas High is the way to go.

For elementary Toro Park is a good one.

Palma is not that great. If you want to send your kids to good private schools, look at the Monterey Peninsula schools, such as Robert Louis Stevenson and York.
