Oh come off it. There are rarely "riots" - they are demos, marches. Usually turned into riots due to police provocation.

Montreal is a very safe city. The winters are quite cold and, you're coming from Florida, so it will be a big shock.

Interestingly, alot of people from Quebec would often go to Florida for the winter, then return to Montreal.
