Perhaps you should make your voice more known to the city planners in this case. I know in the case of the Champlain bridge project, there have been well-known social media efforts via Twitter, Facebook, and online surveys by the city to actively collect citizen feedback on those infrastructure projects (a friend of mine actually works in the communications team for the Champlain project and he organizes bi-weekly community engagement meetings and monthly online surveys that are all open to the public - and yes they do take the results very seriously as those are fed directly in monthly reports to the minister of transport and federal infrastructure agencies).
I think you would've made a much bigger impact by seeking out and participating in the right channels than simply posting your sentiments on C-D which, which doesn't get much online traffic.
