The biggest investment most people make in there life is in a mortgage yet dont understand the definition of the word or the correct pronusiation witch is mortier meaning death because of the doutfullness of the dept being payed back . the U.S. adopted the word from the french this word was understood buy 17th century attorneys googel it barns and nobel book store any questions ?

I have heard it translated as a death-hold or death-pledge many times.

If there wasn't some much greed, love of money, and fleecing going on in this country maybe every American could afford a piece of the dream.

Yeah, in the Soviet Union everyone had a piece of the motherland. Equal distribution and all.

Fannie/Freddie and FHA were to step in that direction.
