You can get Harley engine parts for near infinity as the basic design hasn't changed much in nigh 40 years, and they have sold the most units.

Sorry, Evo came out in 86, so that would make it the same engine for 25+ years.

Differ what? If you can get any part you want for that for the mere asking I would be surprised. I sure can't for my mint 1981 xs 850 sh Yammi.

I wouldn't 'just' throw a leg over that bike and see if i could run out to cal and come right back to NH on a bet.

I'ld gets stuck in East Corn Field Flat Nebarkansaw, and turn green and moldy waitin on parts from E Bay.

There is no law or mandate that requires a manufacturer to produce replacement parts for a certain period of time. Its a old fairy tail.I have heard of this for years and listened to folks frustration.I worked foor one of the big 3 in R&D and they don't do it.If a model is very popular and profitable, yes. But there not going to produce inventory and have it set around for years waiting on someone to buy it.That's nuts in business sence. As far as the Harley Davidson aftermarket parts market.A Harley owner is a better quailty part from the high line aftermarket manufacturer, because they take the part and improve on it.Take the Shovelhead engine 1966-1969 was a Pan/Shovel.What I want to point out is the 1970-1984 cone/alt. Shovel engine. They were noted for there oil leaks(marking there spot)now with todays tech you can own and ride a Shovelhead leak free. This is just one thing of a list of hundreds of improvments. That make owning a older Harley a very enjoyable and dependable ride. This goes for the Panheads,Knuckleheads,Flatheads,
Back to the car side of the debate.Cars built now are lasting much longer than the cars of of years ago.Its nothing to see a car with 200k on it.You won't see any small block chevys like that.Cars of the 60's lasted about 7 to 12 years.now cars can double that with the proper maintance. Most people DO NOT KEEP UP WITH THERE MAINTANCE.Number one change the damm oli and filter its cheap.Compared to the price of a new engine or replacing the car.I'm done. Thanks Ken
