Does anyone here own one of these? Just curious how reliable they are?

I bought a Ninja 250 a little while back for my short work commute (to keep from doing short trips in my car) and it's just not my thing. I'm getting tired of shifting the gears, and it has no storage so I can't take anything with me unless I wear a backpack. I'm thinking this scooter will fit my needs better.

Also, this model doesn't seem quite as dorky looking as other scooters.

I've been looking into scooters lately and it seems Kymco has a very good reputation for quality, reliability and performence. The general opinion among scooter enthusiasts is that the major Taiwanese scooters (Kymco, SYM, Buddy) are as good as the Japanese and European ones, perhaps better.

fwiw i fixed my storage problems on my similarly sized bike with a tail bag and two saddle bags. i can carry two laptops, change of clothes and more on my trips without needing a backpack (i also found riding with a backpack very annoying)

the tail bag was cheap, BILT Tail Bag - Black/Gray : Amazon.com : Automotive. saddlebags are more but certainly cheaper than swapping vehicles

no suggestions on shifting though a lot of guys around here in NYC have scooters and they seem great to me. if I didn't do highway travel outside of the city i'd consider one. good luck!

I'm going to look at this scooter Monday, the salesman said its in great condition with only 5k miles on it. Any ideas on what a good offer would be? I'm thinking maybe $2100?

I bought the Xciting 250Ri today, paid $2100 for it ($1900 plus doc fee). It's a bit heavy but I'll get used to it, and it runs very smoothly. I got it up to 60mph today and the tach was at 7k. Redline is around 7500 so I'm thinking about 68-70mph is top speed, that's plenty fast enough for my needs.
