Here is the loaner bike that NYC Choppers gave me to use while they are customizing my bike. It's a rigid, it has a carb, it has no speedo, it has no gas gauge, and I have to use a padlock to lock the front wheel...But it's so F'in cool! I love riding it!

With no front fender, riding it in the wet at speed must be a lot of fun.

Indian Larry's shop was in Brooklyn. It was called Gasoline Alley. NYC Choppers was located in the Hell's Kitchen section of Manhattan for many years. Now they are in Southampton, NY. Here is their website: NYC Choppers

I rode for a couple of hours today. It handles really well, but by the end of the trip my ass was killing me. LOL

Yeah, that is a hardtail for you. Looks like you got a good sample of the good and the bad.

Only you can say if the good is good enough to outweigh the bad.

Glad you decided to give it a try.

That looks like someone's unfinished winter project. Did you really need a loaner bike? You have a car?

Somehow, I didn't expect this to be a relevant thread 6 years after I posted it. Seems like a silly question though. If someone offers to lend me a toy that I like, why wouldn't I take them up on it?

Btw, some people pay big money for "unfinished projects" like this.
