Cars are ok, but just too much metal flying about, motorcycles are the way to go for your average speed freak.
I,ve been riding bikes for around 22 years, in Europe, UK and Australia, must say that Scotland and Norway are probably the prettiest places, and the coldest and wettest and Australia was the driest and hottest (try 46deg C and 0% Humidity in leathers......)
Sorry no Harleys, not really my sort of thing although I have ridden a V-Rod, I might try again in the US as I think it is the sort of bike that suits the roads and climate (just can't seem to want to polish chrome for 12 hrs a day)LOL
Any groups in Houston or guys/girls that like to take a ride out?
I'm not really into big street bikes or serious dirt bikes either. I ride a Suzuki DR 650 thumper (enduro style). It goes on the freeway just fine but you can turn off onto a dirt road and then go onto a single track trail with no prob. I explore the old overgrown logging roads here in the Cabinet mountains with my little green cheeked conure on my shoulder. She just loves it !
I would never drive a motorcycle on the streets in a big city, but I used to ride a dirt bike up until some 16 years ago. I had a Kawasaki (forgot the model) and I sold it in late 1991.
I would like to get back into it, but I'll probably be looking at getting a Quad.

I ride a 1989 Kawasaki 454LTD right now thats off the road, im waiting on an overflow resevoir to come in and I have to flush the carbs. This is a pic ofher when i bought her, dirty, thats why I gotta mess with the carbs, but its a great ride
Its good to see some people riding Aprilla's, I didnt think they were very popular stateside.
The pride and joy is an 1946 Indian Chief, but I have a couple of others, both Harley's. I use to have a Suzuki Intruder LC1500, but I sold it this spring.
I'd love a motorcycle but my parents say I have to wait until I'm 18 (I'm coming up to my 17th birthday at the moment). My uncle rides a Harley-Davidson Heritage Softail Classic though and it's a beauty. It feels great flying around on the back of it.
I would love anything but I'd especially like either a big Harley or a Buell Firebolt. The power of the XB12S is ferocious!
Boycew, you should take the Motorcycle Safety Foundation beginner riders course. Takes a weekend and you test at the end and have you license. You may get an insurance break if you've had the class. (and good grades help) . It's true about young men and sport bikes aas far as the insurance goes
I am the mother of 3 boys, 4 if you count my husband We have the array of dirt bikes. I ride a Harley-Heritage Softail Classic. We have rode around Lake Superior (Great trip). Yellowstone, Cody WY, Jackson Hole, Knoxville Ky, Milwaukee, all over MN....We have not been south or southwest. That is on my wish list along with the Canada/Alaska ride, but you need to be retired for the time required for that one.
I'm a female... and I ride sportbikes. I currently ride a Kawasaki Ninja 500 (track prepped, not street rideable), Yamaha FZR600 and a Suzuki GSXR600 (bored out to a 636). My husband rides a Honda VTX1300 (cruiser).
I've never gotten into dirt biking. I'm a klutz as it is... I don't need to be picking gravel outta my face!
I know the reputation sportbike riders have and I'm happy to say, I don't ride like what some would percieve as "the majority" of sportbike riders do. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y164/canibeyou/nono.gif (broken link)
