Are three wheels better than two? It’s a tougher question to answer than you may think, and one that inspires strong feelings either way.
The three-wheel motorcycle category is fairly broad, in fact. Originally, there were one-wheel front, two-wheel back structures from Harley Davidson, Honda, and other manufacturers, but more recently, the two-wheel front, one-back setup has been popularized by brands like Can-Am.
IMO a motorcycle is a 2 wheeled affair that captures the pleasures of leaning into corners, 3 wheeled machines like the Can Am Spyders are a sport machine that is somewhere between a bike and a car.
When it came time for me to give up a 35 year biking passion instead of going 3 wheels i bought a Miata.
I did not se the leaning articulation in the article ,however if it has it, it would be a serious step ahead of the Can am.
I've ridden the Can am and it is ridged in the front so you must slow down on turns and the back tire looses traction ,it has so much power.
There is a Yamaha dealer here and that's where I got my V Star and also rode the Can am.
I'll be watching to see if they will provide demo rides ,this should be interesting.
Almost all 2 wheeled bikes come with a side stand and/or a center stand to prevent them falling over when parked, you also have 2 legs to keep the bike up when coming to a stop.,i cant see the point in buying a 3 wheeler unless you have some physical disability, Seems you end up with all the disadvantages of a 2 wheeled bike and none of the advantages..
3 Wheelers like the Can-Am products make me wonder why the owners dont just buy something like a Miata.
