A friend of mine got her first motorcycle this summer. I'd like to get her a little something related for Christmas (say, under $50). Any suggestions....something other than a motorcycle-branded item of clothing.

Sure, what kind of riding does she do? (Also, what bike model.)
Road?
Dual sport?
Off-Road?
Motocross racing?
Flat Track?
Drag Racing (lots of women in this.)
Less than $50 is going to be kinda hard, but we'll try.
If she's a noobie, then something safety oriented if she's "Road/Dual Sport."
(I like head lamps from "Cyclops.")
Maybe buy some engine oil/filters, and spend the day in the garage, getting to "know" her motorcycle...
When cameras are introduced to motorcyclists, they may want to "put on a show." This is the LAST thing a noob needs. Youtube is full of this.
They're still working on their GROSS skill sets. She'll be doing this for 6-10,000 miles. Then, her FINE skill sets begin. These can take another 40-50 years. (In my case, more...)
BTW~ A Kawasaki Ninja is NOT a beginner friendly motorcycle. They are built for 1 thing. That's performance.
Think of it as putting a 16 year old that has never driven anything into a 65 Corvette stick with bald tires in the rain.
I'm going to presume she got the bike used.
If she's already taken her moto classes, then she's likely familiar with "T-CLOCS." Well, this is just the very beginning of vehicle inspection. There LOT'S more that needs to be looked into. Like brakes for one.
I hope she got a "Ninjette" (Being a 2-fiddy or 300cc.) These are fun bikes that allow a newer rider to learn quicker, because they don't have crazy acceleration, like the bigger Ninja's do. A scared rider isn't learning like a relaxed rider.
You say "no clothing." Ok. Has she got enough stuff to be ATGATT?
What State/Country is she in? (I have contacts all over the Earth, when it comes to motorcycle training and comradery.)

I'm also a retired MSF ridercoach.....
What is ATGATT? And when I'm saying "no clothing", I'm not talking riding gear......just things like shirts with logos, etc.
The MSF Basic RiderCourse would be a great gift. Maybe even a gift card to help offset the cost. The only thing a Go Pro will do is document her lack of skills at this point in her riding development.
