I think the noise ruins the experience. I love my homebuilt ebikes. While I can't go the long distances in between charging, all my trips I have enough charge. Love cruising around 25mph, and if there is a tailwind, all you can hear is the tires singing on the pavement. I get most of my charging power from a small solar panel I built, so it really feels like magic.
My youngest girl was dating a guy that was an AutoCAD designer for Roush Racing and he also played with the Winston School Solar Racing. When his team came to Texas World Speedway, we made the trip to see them and the solar race cars actually racing. One of the guys there had a 3 wheeler that would run all day long at 45 mph and use zero fuel. The thing looked like it was a blast to drive. Considering the teams are made up of high school kids racing these cars and they build them themselves, it's an amazing thing to see. Solar Car Challenge - Photos/Video
