Our family has starting playing connect the movies.

Every movie we have watched lately has an actor from a Harry Potter or LOTR movie. Is there one actor (no matter how minor the role) that was in both series?

They are connected through Inkheart (Andy Serkis and Jim Broadbent) but we'd really like to know of a direct connection.

Thanks!

neither of the actors who played Dumbledore are in the LOTR movies

I doubt there will be any crossovers b/c the first HP and LOTR movies came out at almost the exact same time and so the filming probably overlapped, at least for the first few HP movies.

Well, I know the kid that played Cedric Diggory in HP4 also plays Edward in the Twilight movies. Emma Thompson, Alan Rickman and Gary Oldman all played in the HP movies, but also in many many other movies.

You're probably noticing these movie connections because HP and LOTR are both really big series with huge fan bases that cover many ages of people. Of course they're going to be big-production movies and they're going to want big-name actors.

People mistake the first dumbledore for gandalf the grey but they're not the same person.

Yes, the original (and better) Dumbledore was the late Richard Harris. Gandalf is Ian McKellen, who played Magneto in X-Men.

Yep. Warwick Davis. He played Wicket the Ewok in Return of the Jedi, had a very bried cameo appearance in The Phantom Menace, and played Professor Filius Flitwick (a goblin, I think) in the Harry Potter films. I think he was also in one of the Narnia movies.

As soon as I saw Ian McKellen in LOTR I thought, HE should have played Dumbledore!
