It's kind of hard to tell what's indie anymore. It used to be that anything from Miramax was great. Disney owns it now, is the company still considered indie?
True Romance - maybe not indie, but not big box office either. Maxim Magazine just did a reunion interview with the cast. IMO - Better than Natural Born Killers or Kalifornia
Heathers - My girlfreind at the time made me see it. It ended up being pretty funny.
Clerks - Instant Modern Classic !
Ghost Dog - Better than I expected.

Amazing that anytime there's a thread on "non-mainstream" (as opposed to offbeat) films, then I know Dabeez will have a list that parallels mine.

Y Tu Mama Tambien, great

What about "Once Upon A Time In Mexico". It's a vampire movie, no it's a biker movie, no it's a topless vampire movie, no it's a "snuff" film.

I think M*A*S*H was pretty dark humor, also one of my favorite movies. If you haven't seen it 5 or 10 times you have missed some great dialog.

Matador came in my red envelope today, it looked offbeat and dark in the ads.

Delicatessan was really dark, wifey didn't like it, I did.

LS&2SB and Snatch are both top of my list.

Being John Malkovich, greeeeeeaaaaat.

"Saved" is a great comedy.

"Cosi" is great, especially if you love Toni Collette as much as I do.

"Raising Arizona", early Coens, like Blood Simple it's not for everyone.
