I thought it was surprisingly mediocre, not nearly as funny as it should have been, and, if you think about it, rather racist.

From what I've read of the history of the film, it was originally pitched by Murphy and was supposed to be an "Ocean's 11" type of movie featuring a cast of all black comedians. Somehow, that morphed into what it is now, with Stiller getting the part that Murphy was originally going to play. However, Eddie was also on-board as a co-producer, so he must have played some part of a role in what what eventually put out.

Ok but that still doesnt explain why he took the role of the local crook. It just plays into typical stereotypes all I am saying.

So no black or hispanic guys should ever play thieves or robbers or bad guys because society will stereotype them.

No white guys should play wall street brokers or business owners anymore.
No women should play housewives anymore. Matter of fact lets just remove entertainment all together.

Well, you could also say he took it for $7.5 million reasons.

I realize it is for entertainment. Just shows what people will do for money.
Not when it negatively impacts an already battered perception.

I found it a mildly interesting story about revenge, but I didn't laugh at all at this "crime comedy" film.
