So I just watched the first Resident Evil film for the second time today. It was abit confusing for me the first time I watched it, so I thought a second viewing would help. There's still a few things that confuses me about Alice and Spence and their relationship.
So they both worked at The Hive. Alice wanted to expose the company and bring it down. Did Spence also want to bring it down? That's why he threw the virus and killed everyone? If so, why did he threaten to kill Alice and that JD guy after this revelation? Also, can someone clarify their relationship and their "fake marriage"? It's so confusing...

If I rememeber correctly; his original mission was to help bring down Umbrella, but instead he decided to steal the virus.
Resident Evil had a lot of potential. IMO, they should have kept the story similar to the video games. The Alice character is over the top. I am not sure how this movie franchise has made 5 movies
