I would say the 40s and 50s, the age of the great stars:
Cary Grant, Rock Hudson, James Stewart, Montgomery Clift, Marlon Brando, James Dean
Elizabeth Taylor, Jane Russell, Janet Leigh, Marilyn Monroe, Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn, Ingrid Bergman
Worst is probably today...I find the 'hot' actresses in particular, like Angelina, Jessica Alba, Scarlet Johanssen so overrated. Natalie Portman is one of the few exceptions. The 90s were pretty good with Meg Ryan, Demi Moore, Brook Shields, Sharon Stone. As for the men Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Richard Gere, even Tom looked quite handsome in the day.
I think that is subjective and each generation is going to say their own. Atleast for me its the 90's and 2000's. To me I dont think Jessica alba and such are overrated

Guess I have more classical tastes...also Ava Gardner, of course, and Jean Simmons, I also think Barbara Stanwyk wasn't bad looking actually.
Of course I can look up ava gardner on google and see that she was an attractive woman but then how can I compare that with other women in that era when I have no idea who they were. I recognize the names you posted above but I couldn't tell you anything about them.

I agree with this. I actually think the 50s had the best looking "Hollywood stars" of all time. Marlon Brando and Jimmy Dean are, IMO, the best looking men Hollywood has ever found. And honestly, has there ever been a hotter woman then Elizabeth Taylor?

Hey where is Gregory Peck? No list of that era is complete without him.
The current movie stars are the hottest in my opinion.
A few of my favorites:
Ryan Reynolds
Bradley Cooper
Ryan Gosling
No other generation can top today's hottest stars.
Seriously? These bunch of otherwise average looking bunch of guys is the source of your claim? It is amazing that rat looking Bradley Cooper was voted The Sexiest (gag) Man in the World by some dumb magazine but when people comment on how hot he or either one of those Ryans being this and that....arggh!
I know it is a matter of taste but of all the handsome men Hollywood ever offered, those should not make it to "Top 100" even! They will never have the same charisma and charm the hunks of the 50s, 60s, etc. had!
