Help! I came across a movie or possibly miniseries in the middle of the night in the early nineties - it was a sort of epic adventure that I think involved a young man and an older man travelling through Russia to China on some sort of errand. There was a gypsyish woman early on in the film who I think featured throughout as the love interest - she may possibly have been held captive early on and was saved by the young hero - but I'm not sure. I remember also a scene involving quite a few bearded men consuming large amounts of Vodka in some sort of wooden medieval outpost. Now I thought it was called 'Black Rose' - but when I've searched I've only found a movie from the 1950's starring Orson Welles - and I think this production was made in the 80's, although it could have been any time from the late 70's to early 90's I suppose. I'm not sure if it was an English language movie or if it was subtitled - I would assume if it's not English then it's Russian but again I couldn't say. Sorry - there are so many unknowns, but if it's ringing a bell for anybody I'd really love to hear, because I recall really enjoying it.
