Do you mean an action hero, or a protagonist that brings about great change for the better and/or saves lives selflessly? I think Sean Penn as Harvey Milk could count as an LGBT hero on film, which was a successful film, especially for a historical drama.

B.) Batman isn't real. He's a fictional character. So whether or not he "is" or "is not" anything is entirely in the hands of the writer.

C.) Although it is definitely playing with stereotypes, Zorro the Gay Blade is a hilarious movie. And the gay characters is the smartest, most courageous character in the movie. He's the hero!

D.) Isn't one of the Green Lanterns gay? Other than the occasional Batcomic, I don't read DC. But I think one of the many Green Lanterns came out a couple of years ago.

E.) Marvel has had openly gay characters since ... what? The early '90s, was it? I think Northstar was the first. There have been lots since then.
Yep....one the Green Lanterns is homosexual..... batwoman is a lesbian too.
