There was another Korean film recently on Chiller channel. Had comedy elements within a horror film. Monster arises in a Korean river after a U.S. doctor orders the illegal disposal of chemicals. Interesting, humorous and well done overall.

I think maybe your are refering to one of the movies I mentioned earlier "The Host"?
I love, love Korean Action/Crime films. Much better than a lot of CGI filled crap what Americans produce. They also do War films very well (very Saving Private Ryan esque).

If you like horror and comedy together, check out this movie. You can get it at ebay. There were some pretty funny scenes and there were some not so funny scenes. Some of those scenes were pretty creepy considering this is suppose to be a comedy movie.

They definitely do! Man From Nowhere and New World tops my Crime movie. Oldboy and No Mercy are two of my favorite revenge movie. The Front Line and Tae Guk Gi are my two favorite war films. Koreans have bested Hollywood in Romance category as well. They are definitely king of tear jerkers. LOL.

The only thing that I find strange about Koreans and their films (and that I also find hilarious) is, why do they smack people in the head so much? For example, In a Company Man, the bad boss constantly hits the main character in the head. Same with so many Korean moms in films hitting their husbands or children upside the head. Is that common in Korea?

The Host was awesome! really neat monster flick.
I tell ya what, Korean cinema grew on me really fast. It all started with "Oldboy," maybe 3 or 4 years ago. That just opened the door. There's a good 15-20 really good Korean thrillers on netflix, and then my wife and I started getting into the rom-coms and dramas. Seoul is pumping out some seriously good films.
I've seen a few Korean films. Mostly of the Horror/Monster variety. Very well done. Great imagination. Fun characters. The stories occasionally take leaps in logic that make no sense to me. But for a monster movie, that's not something I hang up on.
