I had heard about this before release and thought it sounded up my alley. I like watching movies based not just on plot but to see certain actors try to do something a little different. I saw it on TWC Movies On Demand, pay per view
I also like a movie that has a strong sense of region and this was written and filmed by someone from Arkansas in Arkansas with a lot of locals.
This reminded me a little of Winters Bone.
Its not a fast film or super suspenseful but I liked it and recommend it if you like this genre. Kind of nice to see Witherspoon in something other than a glam role. Sam Shepard sure has aged but then again so have I
Mud is a 2012 American coming-of-age drama film written and directed by Jeff Nichols. The film stars Matthew McConaughey, Tye Sheridan, Sam Shepard, and Reese Witherspoon. The film competed for the Palme d'Or at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival.[4][5] It was shown at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2013, and had a limited release in select theaters on April 26, 2013.[6][7]
Loved this movie. Jeff Nichols also lived in my neighborhood and it was interesting to hear him talk about this movie as it was coming to life, and then to see it on screen.
Acting was superb, you really got a feel for the area of the Mississippi that it was set in, and the story is not cookie cutter.
I liked this movie too but you have to stick with it. The movie has an almost old fashioned storytelling pace to it, but it's well worth watching to the end with a surprisingly violent climax.
I enjoyed it. I thought the 2 boys did a great job, was well as Matthew M.
