My personal favorite would be the Fritz Lang noir classic Human Desire (1954); Glenn Ford, Gloria Grahame and Broderick Crawford (Who could better play a "railroad bull"?) in a tale of an engineer caught in a love triangle.
The constant repeat of the same "passing scenery" (hard-core rail buffs will recognize it as the Amtrak Northeast Corridor near Trenton, NJ) is about the only technical flaw I can cite, and the camera angles and scenes of a classic locomotive of the time (an American Locomotive Co (ALCO) model "PA") are a delight.
