I watched the movie for the first time in awhile the other night. To start I am not a huge "Brat Pack" fan or foe. At the time the movie came out I didn't think much of it at all .I had just graduated from high school so college life was still ahead of me and I was headed to a junior college for my first year , not an elite school like Georgetown. The friends that I made while in college were not very much like any of the characters in the movie. But years later after graduating I began to like the movie a little better since by then I had done some things that the movie reminded me of. After my second year I was an intern in Washington DC and the group I worked with played a little softball after work on the National Mall and hung out many nights in Georgetown. One our favorite places to go was Houlihan's, a bar (closed since the late 90s I think ) that Judd Nelson mentions going to at the end of St Elmo's Fire. Over the years I have spent about 3 months working in the DC area and the movie reminds me of those times.
