Upon the second theater revival (according to the LA Times?) some music may have been edited or rerecorded due to royalties, but I wouldn't bet the farm on it, anyone know?
They did correctly mention however that the mountain-top guitar playing at the very end was edited out, thus directly or indirectly making the scene prior to that one out to be a new ending to the film, of sorts.
It changed the whole ending, some folks were not happy.

I saw it too for a buck too.
Love the Cat Stevens music, it made me want to go out and find which albums
it was from (a mixture of Mona Bone Jakon and Tea For the Tillerman, plus a couple of
tunes not on any studio albums, were either written for the movie or "giveaways" Cat had.)
Never heard of the mountain-top guitar playing being edited out,
wasn't it Bud Cort "playing" a banjo or are refering to something else?
Anyway, very unique, quirky film from Hal Ashby.
Perfect casting too, Ruth Gordon and Bud Cort.
