This movie seems so intense...the trailer was almost bone chilling, but I think that it looks very promising. Opens up in theaters today in LA and NYC but I think it will be distributed to the rest of the country soon. I know I'll be seeing it.

I didn't like it - but it's getting rave reviews, so I'm in the minority.

I have not seen but it looks interesting from the trailer. And I like Janelle Monae. So I will eventually see it. I hope it does well. There needs to be a lot more diversity in the theaters.

There is an indie called "Loving" that I want to see that should be coming out soon too. Looks good.

Saw it tonight. Didn't care for it at all. Was glad when it ended because I was just about to doze off.

I had really high expectations as everyone kept saying how great it is, ended up completely disappointed. I don't understand the hype at all. It was just boring. It's like they were trying to keep it real and artistic at the same time, but the execution was just weak and hollow.

I was not overly impressed by the cast either. Naomie Harris' role could easily be replaced by any other actress and I honestly just don't understand where the buzz around Mahershala Ali came from, he was barely on the screen.

After seeing this Mahershala Ali interview on Hulu(where Mahershala comes off as being very eloquent and very intelligent)...

Mahershala Ali on embracing his name Video - ABC News

I was given the impression that Mahershala Ali had a really interesting role in this movie and had wanted to see it. However, after all of these bad reviews in this thread, I think I'm going to pass.

Saw it today with a friend. She didn't care for it, I thought it to be some of the best and most intriguing film-making I've seen in ages.

I can understand people not caring for it. It is not like what people are used to in movies. It is impressionistic and underplayed and uses some really beautiful ideas to portray emotion and experience.

Just saw it with DW last night.

ZZZZZzzzzzz. I cannot remember the last time I fell asleep at a movie, but I did with this one. Very very "Oscar Bait-ish."

I just remembered the last theater movie I fell asleep in. Ironically, it was entitled--I kid you not--"Eyes Wide Shut." LOL

I liked it.
A beautiful movie, quite sad. But kinda sweet at the same time.

Well, since this film won for best picture, I changed my mind and am going to watch it. But I guess it's kind of like "Independence Day: Resurgance" where regardless of its low box office take and all the bad reviews, I still had to see it for myself.
