The Last Jedi...really? What's the third movie going to be called, A Jedi's Journey?
no the last movie will be
"The Jedi FINALLY Sack-up"
how many fricken times can these peaceful yet powerful jedi get nearly completely wiped out...time to change their laws...maybe a little offensive ass kicking to avoid having to retrain an entire new group every ten years or so
The trailer seems to be pushing a new philosophy for the protagonist users of the Force, one that endorses a balance rather than a strict adherence to the light side as seen in the previous movies. In that vein, Luke himself delivers the big line at the end of the trailer: “It’s time for the Jedi to end.”
As long as it's better than The Force Awakens. I have a good feeling about this one. Except they keep bringing back those flippin' AT-ATs.
I know. You're not wrong. In a civilization where even dirt poor peasants can have anti-gravity vehicles, the fact that AT-ATs exist at all doesn't make much sense. But still, they are part of the flavor of STAR WARS. If it makes you feel any better, this movie is going to have much-improved AT-ATs. Supposedly less like elephants and more like gorillas.
I just hope they take the story in new directions. Even though I enjoyed TFA, it was way too much just a retro of Ep. IV. The Last Jedi better not be a retro of Ep. V.
Eh? I think they're reading way more of their own views into that than I saw in the trailer.
Luke has always been resistant to the strict codes of the Jedi. Even in Empire he was resistant to the whole necessity of detachment on which Yoda insisted. Luke wanting to end the Jedi I would never take to suggest that he means it's okay to embrace bits of the dark side. But reject the code of detachment and refusing to love? Yeah, I could see Luke not having much patience for that, even in his crotchety old age.
