I also liked Moonraker (1979) - IMDb because it had that simple 'Noah's ark' storyline where all the supposedly 'perfect' people were gathered together in a space shuttle while the rest of humanity on Earth was to face their doom.

Spoiler
However, that proved to be the bad guy's undoing when it was pointed out to Jaws and his girlfriend that they weren't going to be included as part of the 'perfect' people who were going to inherit the earth.

Always loved all of the Bond films on their own for various reasons....mostly gadgets and girls. But was never blown away by any of it and they were just popcorn movies.
However, all that changed when I saw Daniel Craig in Casino Royale.
My favorite if for no other reason that the story line got deeper. The Bond swagger was still there, and the gadgets and girls, but the rollercoaster storyline, and its pacing, and again, its DEPTH, that for the first time showed us how Bond became Bond.
And throw a terrific Judi Dench in and it's just wonderful. One of my favorite all-time movies to watch, Bond or otherwise. I can't be the only one that thinks this. Much as I like Connery's turn as 007, I could see him reading the script for Casino Royale and refusing it because he would be seen as vulnerable, and Craig successfully pulled off the vulnerability with the machismo.
And it brought the series back to its original power. It had been coasting and somewhat lightweight between Connery and Craig.
He's enjoyable, but Connery was always kind of a one-note song with the Bond role if you ask me (don't hate)
