Disney just rebooted Star Wars for the new PC audience.

"Star Wars more grown up"? I reckon Rogue One more than fits the bill.

Agreed. It was the first STAR WARS movie since Empire that was completely devoid of any cartoony elements.

I feel a Prequel might work but not a reboot. The original pretty much answered all the questions. Unless they do a sequel to the original trilogy.

Michael B Jordan is the son of Morpheus and he has to find the next Neo but this time the next Neo fails or turns evil and it's up to him to become the one. Or some BS like that...

They've already done a Wachowski-authorized and partially Wachowski-written prequel animation anthology called the "Animatrix."

Not a live action version. Those were Anime short vids.

They should "reboot" this movie with a premise that actually makes sense.

This idea that sequels are borne of a lack of new ideas is repeated over and over. And it's nonsense.

Hollywood is awash in ideas. Studios, producers, directors - they are absolutely inundated with ideas. There are so many ideas out there that they have gatekeepers, agents, who weed out the bad ones (the vast majority) and even the agents don't see most of the embryonic pitches, which are read (and mostly discarded) by assistants.

Studios and producers want to make money. That's the bottom line. When you're fronting $5 million or $25 million or $150 million for a film, you're expecting to make back your investment and more. That's why those millions are invested. Sequels use establish brands. Branding is expensive and uncertain. Sequels don't require branding, and if the original film was a financial success it means the sequel is more likely to be as well.

Saying that a sequel shows a lack of imagination is like saying that the fourth pizza joint that just opened in town is because the owners were too unimaginative to start a restaurant selling Icelandic cuisine. Rather, it's because additional pepperoni pizzas are more likely to be in demand than even one serving of hákarl (fermented shark - one of the national dishes of Iceland).
