Not crazy about action/adventure, suspense/thriller, fantasy, scifi, war, western ... but can occasionally come across movies in these genres that I do actually enjoy.
I enjoy comedy, drama, period drama, some animated. Love musicals and romcoms.
The only genre I hate is musicals. Unless Lee Marvin is in it. Or maybe Troy McClure. Then I'll watch. Other than that, even the supposedly great musicals (West Side Story, The Sound of Music, Chicago) bore me to tears. West Side Story and Chicago actually made me mad, having to sit through them. I don't just dislike musicals. I hate them.
Other than that ...
I love a well made movie of any genre, be it drama, horror, romance, thriller, science fiction, film noir, historic, fantasy, documentary, etc.
Have to second that on movie musicals only one I ever thoroughly looked forward to was "All That Jazz" My friends who accompanied me weren't thrilled. Oh wait, I love "Phantom of The Opera" I bought a copy. However, I do mostly detest and if forced to watch any besides the ones mentioned, I'll will spend my time in a perpetual state of .
Thrillers are my favorite be it a drama, action, sci fi, so on.
One genre I really do not like at all are westerns. There's just something about them I don't like, the scenery doesn't appeal to me, the costumes, etc. 3:10 to Yuma (the one with Christian Bale) was one of the few that I saw.
Other genres I do not like at all are those 'period' pieces based on all those English novels, or even American movies set in the early 1900's to 1940/50's.
I'm not a big fan of the very old movies set in ancient times either.
