I saw this film, probably at least 15 years ago, as part of a gay & lesbian film festival. If I recall correctly, it was several vignettes that were unrelated stories. One story was of a successful business man who secretly has a boyfriend. The boyfriend dresses in drag. The story follows them through a day of their lives when, presumably for the first time, the business man allows himself to be seen with his boyfriend in public. They spend the day together, enjoying themselves at various events, and then go to the boyfriend's home that evening. While they're in bed together (I'm assuming after they've slept together), the business man pulls out a gun and shoots himself. I remember being horrified because I was young and hadn't ever seen anything quite like that before. There was blood all over the place and the boyfriend was screaming. It really had an effect on me back then, thinking about what would drive someone to commit suicide in that way, but I can't recall what the movie was called. Does this ring a bell for anyone?

It sounds somewhat like Poison, a 1991 film by Todd Haynes. It was also three unrelated vignettes, and one involved a violent shooting. Good movie, actually.

I don't think it was this one. None of the vignettes sound like the plot from the one I recall. And I wanna say all three were gay or lesbian couples with different stories? But not sure about this. Thank you for your input, though!

So I did what I should have done before, which was searching for gay/lesbian movies made in the 90s.

Turns out this is the one: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stonewall_(1995_film)

I was wrong about it being separate vignettes, though. Not sure where I got that idea. Memory is a strange thing.

"As they wake up together the next morning, Vinnie asks Bostonia if he's ever told her that he loves her. She says no. Vinnie suddenly commits suicide with a bullet through the head and Bostonia becomes hysterical. Vinnie has left her a large amount of cash and scrawled "I LOVE YOU" on a mirror in lipstick."
