Not everybody. I'm sure there are plenty of women and people of color who would never want to go back 60 years to when it was much harder if not impossible to get their stories told.

That's true, very true. But one movie like Rocky that came out in 2008 was Slumdog Millionaire. It's not a boxing movie, but it's a rags to riches type story like Rocky. Or Whiplash (2014), is kind of a strive to achieve your goal to go the top type story. So if they are willing to make movies like that, then why couldn't something like Rocky come out nowadays?

I think in part he meant that he held out to be the lead and they caved even though they absolutely did not want him to do it.
