What gave Ryan Johnson the authority to write The Last Jedi? Now obviously the all the authority to say what happens in Star Wars originally belonged to George Lucas but he signed that away to Disney and from what I know the story behind that is quite deep, George Lucas had been a big Disney fan ever since he was a small child and he eventually did plan on selling them Star Wars, but what I don't get is why Ryan Johnson was given any authority to write Star Wars sequels. I was a bit disappointed with Abrams but in my opinion his movie of Force Awakens deserves a passing grade. Ryan Johnson on the other hand, with Last Jedi, I would give that an F- and lots of fans agree with me on that. I also read somewhere that there was this other fellow in Disney who was kicked out of the Star Wars project because they disagreed with him about what he wanted to do with the Star Wars storyline. Supposedly, George Lucas at one time was talking about making episode VI himself and releasing it in 2011 or 2012, Mark Hamill talks briefly about that in a video that was recorded shortly after ROTJ was made. I wish Lucas had followed through on that.

So does Kennedy work for Lucasfilm? If she does then she wouldn't be in the position to let anybody write Star Wars movies since the rights now belong to Disney. If she works for Disney than she is not doing a good job if you ask me.

Disney owns Lucasfilm.

Kathleen Kennedy is the president of Lucasfilm.

I wasn't impressed by The Last Jedi, either. But there it is.
